Default recommended wheel and tire - 2000 LS?

I was hoping someone can make a couple of rec's as to a nice wheel replacement as well as tire w/o having to make any mod's. I have a slightly bent rim and scratched one at this point with the stock alloy's and decided to go ahead and get new wheels w/tires. Should I go larger? or stay with the 16's? I want to preserve the smoothest, quietest ride possible and have absolutely no intention on lowering or changing springs....however, I am going to replace all 4 struts w/OEM.

thoughts? help?

Maybe the easiest is to go with 18" OEM LS430 wheels. They are on Ebay regularly and often come with tires. At one point I was going to go that route.

I have chrome 17" LS430 wheels with Michelin 235/55/17 tires.

Still gives a good ride with an updated OEM look!

I'd also suggest a 17 combo.

Yes maybe the 18 setup would give a more harsh ride. Either size would update your car and it would look good.

I agree a bigger wheel will effect the ride. I would think with 18's or 17's you might not notice it much.

I have 19's and you will notice the difference. Not as smooth/soft
Plus the tires get expensive with 19"

I also have a 2000 LS400 and am probably one of the oldest of the OFs (old farts) on this forum.

If you really do want to "preserve the smoothest, quietest ride possible" then there is no choice but to stick with with 16" wheels and OEM size tires. If you want the quietest, smoothest ride, forget all season tires and buy summer-only tires. The standard tires on the 2000 LS400 were not all season tires - they were summer-only tires; all season tires were a no-cost option. I am currently running Bridgestone RE750 summer tires -extremely quiet but they are new. I have extra 16" wheels with Blizzaks for the winter.

Going up only one inch in wheel size to 17" wheels and slightly lower profile tires will degrade the ride noticably. Been there, done that. Perhaps 17" wheels will provide a "good" ride like lexusnutt said but the OEM size 16" wheels and tires will provide the excellent ride Toyota engineers were aiming for.

BTW, Toyota ADRs (something like stock shares) closed at over $122 today - Toyota (Lexus) has been a great investment for us over the years. Consider buying 10-20 Toyota ADRs with the money you save by staying with OEM size wheels and tires, LOL.
