1998 Electrical Problem - Alternator?
My 1998 LS 400 just went over 100,000 miles and all service has been done at the dealer on schedule.
Several times in the last few months the electrical system seems to kind of shut down, turns on the battery indicator and the GPS goes to a white screen with nothing on it. It doesn't happen very often but when it does it is usually 45 degrees or colder outside.
I only live a mile and a half from work so usually it is only driven about 6 miles a day during the week and then some weekends will be 400-500 miles.
Looking at some other posts makes me suspect the alternator.
Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

I would definitely replace the battery...
...it's amazing what kinds of problems start popping up when a battery is near its end of life...and cold weather doesn't help!
...and it's cheaper than an alternator. Worth a try.
