Default LS430 Wheels on a 1998 LS400 (pics)

I just swapped the 18" OEM LS430 chrome wheels I had on my LS400 and put the 17" wheels from my LS430 on the LS400 (the LS400 wheels I have need some cleaning first before going back on and my hoze is frozen, lol).

I thought I'd post a couple of pics so folks would know what 18" LS430 and 17" LS430 wheels look like on a LS400. My LS is mostly back to stock except for exhaust and monotone paint.

Battery died so I've only got one image for now
EOM LS430 17's from a 2005 LS430 Ultra

With LS430 Chrome 18's

If I were keeping this car, probably would get spacers for the rear

No issues with fittment at all; no rubbing, brake clearance is fine.

With stock wheels

Call me nuts, but I think I like the stock ones the best.

Dave, thank you for posting the pics -- it is very useful to see photos of a 98-00 LS400 with the later 17" and 18" LS430 wheels.

I agree with e-man - the OEM wheels look the best.

I know it's all a matter of personal taste but I can't seem to get used to the look of the later "wagon wheel, big spoke" LS430 wheels on a 98-00 LS400 or even on an LS430 for that mater. I dunno -- the wheels somehow seem too "harsh". The LS400 and LS430 seem to need wheels with "softer styling".

The best looking non-standard wheels I've seen on a 98-00 LS400 are the 17" wheels that came with the DHP ("dynamic handling package") option in the U.K. I think the option came with 245/50-17 tires.

Here is my 2000 LS400 with its bigger dish OEM wheels and summer tires.

I like the stock 5 spoke on the 97-98's. The 18's are good too. The 17's...meh.

Thanks for putting them on...I've been curious about the various LS 430 wheels and how they would look on the 400's.

Wheels make a hell of a difference. The 17s just dont flow right with the LS400. But as it being the rain car, I guess the others come first.

I swapped the 99 and 97 wheels, to me they look better this way...

Which wheel? The 17" wheel standard on the 98-00 LS400 with the DHP (Dynamic Handling Package) sold in the U.K. or the 16" wheel standard on the 2000 LS400 Platinum Series and the 01-02 LS430?

The 17" DHP wheels apparently are no longer available from U.K. Lexus dealers - seems like someone on U.K. Lexus forums is always looking for them. About 25% of earlier 98-00 LS400 were equipped with the DHP package which included the 17" wheels, shorter springs and a thicker antiroll bar.

I don't know if the 16" 2000 LS400 Platinum Series/01-02 LS430 wheels are still available from Lexus dealers but they are widely available in both standard and chrome finish from a number of wheel suppliers.
