Default 90LS400 Electrical issue

Hello folks,
My name is Sam Sayes and recently bought (2 days ago) a 90 LS400 with 100K on it. I first of all love this place and wanted to extend my hellos to everyone here and i ask to please bear with me as i'm a newbie

I bought the LS 2 days ago from a friend of mine, he cared alot for the car, always maintained it and kept up with the service intervals.

Here is a little history.

Car has gooten 4 tires and 4 shocks all around a month ago and water pump and timing belt replaced at 91K with a full tuneup and tranny filter and fluid change.

Now today i got the car registered at DMV and decided to go out for a ride.
All of a sudden with my radio on every time i hit the brake pedal the radio would cut out, but as soon as i let go of the pedal it plays again.

The problem
Ok so i park the car at Safeway go inside for 10mins and come back out to start the car and all of a sudden a "pprrrttt tick tick tick" sound.
I was able to get a jump start, so i waited 5 mins while its idling and all the little warnign lights on the dash come on and turn off, come on and turn off.
I shut the car off and try to start but once again no go.

Now can some one shed some light as what this could be?
1. could it be a defective battery (not sure on age)
2. A alternator took a crap on me?

Ok so the tow truck comes and jump starts it, it fired right up with no problems and there were no flickering warning lights.
We turned the car off but it only clicks and "prrttttt" when we try to fire it up.

So for the long post but your guidance and advise will be appreciated.

Exclamation

Maybe it is the wires in the arm of the trunklid. Search for that, maybe someone will chime in with better key words for the search.

the trunklid problem is completely different here.

do you or did u have a power steering leak? if so its HIGHLY likely that ur alternator died.

id take the car down to autozone or kragen (or the like in ur area) since they run free alternator and battery tests.

sounds like a dead alternator isnt recharging the bat.

Yea, I was gonna say...that whole trunk lid issue doesn't make the car make funny noises...it just makes the electrical system act weird via the Reverse light coming on when you press the breaks and making the car stutter.

Definitely sounds like an issue with the alternator

Let us know how it turns out!

Hello folks.

Ok it turned out to be a defective battery, i picked up a new one and installed it then headed over to Advanced auto parts and they did an alternator test and it turned out to be running perfect (THANK GOD)

Car had a new power steering pump and alternator installed 2 yrs ago.

Thanks for all the help and advise every one.
