Default '90 LS400 woes..

After 244K hard Houston stop-and-go miles, my '90 LS400's transmission has developed "morning sickness": After sitting overnight, it takes 5 or more seconds to go into drive. After that, it's fine... doesn't miss shifts or slip.

Since I've decided to try to make 300K miles with this car, I'm thinking of a rebuild on the transmission.

But who can really do this kind of work? Anyone know of reputable chains or sources for quality rebuilds? Someone that's confident enough in their work to offer a 3 or more year warranty? I'm a bit picky, and anything less than "like new" performance from the transmission wouldn't be acceptable.

I'm not afraid of spending the bucks on this "old" car, but don't want to waste money either.

Thanks,

DT

I would say the same... try the tranny flush. You've only got 56k to go, your tranny can still make it.
