Default 2jz Conversion

Hello, Ive just bought an ls400 here in Australia. I was wondering is it possible to fit a 2jz into it? And also, when doing a conversion on an ls400 is there a way around losing all the electronics such as the heated seats, electric seats etc. Thanks

Possible yes, has it been done? Yes. There is one auto 2jz kicking around Brisbane that never runs right. And I know of two auto 1jz ones being built now.

I’ve gone through the 1jz/2jz conversion idea; it’s not that hard. It all depends on how much you want to spend I guess. I was going to use the 6speed on either of the motors, which made it a costly exercise.

I’ve had numerous quotes in making a LS400 handle how I would ideally like it to, and believe me in time, parts, labour and a few little custom items I was coming out at around $5k+aus all fitted. The LS will never be a nimble racecar, which unfortunately I was trying to build (Heck I even started to strip mine out and fitted a good set of coilovers to start with )

Don’t underestimate the 1uzfe; I’ve ended up deciding to get a worked auto, and I’ll run some giggle gas, which should be sufficient enough for some quick runs late at night

The money and effort evolved made it not a feasible project in my eyes to be competitive enough for me to do and this is coming from someone who’s had some expensive cars built in the past. If you’re after nothing more then a quick streetcar and something different go for it!

It actually is an ls400, The reason i want to swap the 8 for a 6 is that here in australia we have our learner lisence and then go onto our probationary lisence which is what i am on now. And the stupid government has banned drivers on the probationary lisence having any turbo, supercharged or v8 cars. So while im on this lisence i intend to have a n/a 6 then when im off wack a nice big turbo on the side. thanks for ur help guys.

wait, so u wanna swap a 2jz-GE into ur LS400???!?!?

that is utterly pointless since the ge motor is a decent bit weaker than the GTE (yes you NA-T guys know this) so u will have to build the bottom end if u plan on going anything over 6-8lbs of boost.

and the fact that the car will be ACHINGLY SLOW until u turbo it. id decide against it.

I agree, buy another car to drive why you are on your learners permit and then buy what you want later. How long do you have to wait to get your regular license?

acdc....The 8 is a beautiful motor and you will devalue your car. A modified LS is worth nothing after they have been butchered in Aus. Why not wait till your off P's and enjoy the car as it is. Or move to another state with no restrictions.

I am thinking of swapping a 1JZ-GTE into my LS basically because the 1UZ sucks to work on, and I cant stand the technical glitches with the setup.

there are more technical/wiring issues with teh 1jz because of the way the ecm/ecu controls the turbo motor's timing and fuel.

also, its aggravated by the fact that 99% of all 1jz info is in japanese.
