Tint prices?
I'm planning on tinting my 97' 75% all around including the windshield. I'm opting for 75% light transmission just to cut down on heat transfer. Not really feeling the blacked out or Platinum look. The quote that I received so far is $400. This is for the whole car including the whole windshield.
I think it's pretty fair (CA prices), but just wanted to confirm.

I think the factory one is already close to 80%. I would strongly advise against 75%... but then again, CA is not the best place to be with a tinted car, so I would understand.
Around here, you can have it done for about $120. If you want to go really cheap stuff... then maybe $70.

hey can you guys recommend any places in/around LA that do excellent tints?
I also have to have my brownish 35% tints removed, to be replaced by 15% blackish...what would that run?
Also, in NY and Boston, cops never give u trouble bout tints, how about in Cali?
Thanks

And if that's not enough, try an advanced search in the Southern California Chapter forum.
Depends on the city and how dark your tints are in the front. I'd say around 55-65% for the front windows would be 'safe.'

I agree $250 is average, but as I stated in the original post, there is an additional charge for the windshield of $150. This is with Llumar Films, lifetime coverage against any defects.
I've called some other spots in the Bay Area and they are asking an extra $200 for the winshield.
As far as going 75% All-Around, I don't want it too dark. I want to keep the car looking classy (it's a white car). So if you figure the stock tint reduces light transmition by 20%, plus another reduction of 25%, plus tinting the whole winshield as well, light transmission should be reduced by a total of 45%-55%.
What do you guys think?

I hear you as far as the price goes. But this is the Bay Area, where an 800 sqft. condo will cost you $650k.
As a matter of fact, a friend of mine just got an estimate on his 06 GS300 using a non-metallic tint with lifetime warranty (so it won't interfere with the electronics) for $500 w/o the windshield.
Like I mentioned before, shops around here will charge as much as $250 just for the windshield alone.
Anyone else from the bay that can chime in......
