Just purchased a new to me ls400
It is a 1991, black, fully loaded. I have a couple of questions though.
The AC needs recharging and a new o-ring so I am getting that fixed tomorrow.
The vehicle has 120,000 miles on it, should i go ahead and get the timing belt replaced again or should i just wait?
I want to put all new speakers in the lexus but can not find direct fit replacements for it, any suggestions? Also want to replace the sub and probably the amp.
The CD changer does not eject the cartridge, any tips on getting it out or should i just get a new one?
I am taking it on a long trip in two weeks and want to get it ready. I am going to take a day and change all the fluids, flush the coolant and tranny, check the driveshaft U-joints, grease everything, and such. I will probably get the windows tinted some as they are clear right now, and hopefully put in new speakers and such. Just looking for advice as this is my first lexus.

Congrats on the purchase, and welcome to CL
IF Timing belt was changed close to 90K, then wait till it tops 180K for another belt.
For more info on the speakers and such, please visit the Electronics and Audio forum... lots of very good info there.
Make sure you change tranny fluid with ONLY Toyota T-IV fluid. Note: The power steering system uses ATF fluid, not the regular bottles labeled power steering fluid.

Thanks for the recommendation on the fluid. Does it matter to run synthetic ATF for PS or regular? I know my manual transmission in my jeeo works best with synthetic ATF.

Your welcome
Im running synthetic Mobile 1 ATF myself, and my steering has never been better. No, the 4.0 in the first gens is non-interference.
To check timing for replacment, there should be a sticker right behind the grill on top of the air box with date and milage. Also, check the records if they came with the car.

If you do have the timing belt changed, I recommend having the water pump changed also or atleast checked. Once the water pump goes out, it's very difficult to replace because it's located behind the timing chain (belt has to be removed).
Well, welcome to the boards and GL with your car.
