It can be done although it isn't an easy bolt-on job. The bodies are different.

Well in the OP you were asking if anyone knew if it could be done. Hopefully someone can answer your questions further.

Why ?...............and don't waste your time, because the end results are minimal.
Replace them with a full bumper kit, much easier.

Okay so lets say bambi runs in front of your imaculate 1996 LS 400 and you have to replace the front cap any way, what would it take besides the obvious (Hood, Headlights Assy., Foglights, Fenders, Bumper, & Grill)??? I am thinking if this could work to drop it and add 20's while I am fixing the car.

Well, if Bambi runs out in front, I don't see why you would need to change anything, you have one of the more advanced abs systems out there. There should be no contact with Bambi

If there was contact by some slim chance, you would be in bigger trouble, as there would be a lot of little kids and softies chasing after you to kill you for killing the one and only Bambi.

You would not be worrying about your hood, bumper, grille, headlights, etc.

In all seriousness now,

The doors are the same, so you are ok there.

Pretty much every piece related to the front bumper cover is different, including all of the mounting brackets, clips and hardware. Some may or may not work, as many times the OEMs change things that can still work with new or old versions of things, but by the book they are all different. Figure around $700 retail for everything related to that portion

Grille of course is diff, around $500 for that

Headlights diff of course, could be big bucks if you went with the HID ones.

Parking lights and other side lights different, around $300 for those.

Fog lamps around $400

Hood around $600 plus the insulator underneath which you can do without if you wish, but could cause accelerated wear on the paint on the outside and also noise problems.
Hood shocks will most likely work, but if not, another $180

Hinges look to be the same, so that's a very good thing

Hood latch and misc hardware may or may not be diff, some little parts are unique to the 98+

Fenders, around $600

Inner liners seem to be the same, so that's a good thing

Core support shows diff numbers, but that could be related to the different radiator for the 98+. I have a feeling it might have issues though with the hood latch area, but would have to compare them side by side to be sure. In any case, a different one is listed for the 98+, around $300

Minor shields and air deflectors are diff, but you can probably slide by without changing those.

The underpanel shows to be different, probably due to the bumper being different, $120

Couple other misc parts underneath there unique to the 98+, but you can also get by without those as well I'm guessing.

Inner fenders for the most part seem to be the same, so I have a feeling those will be ok as well.

Honestly, I have been eyeing this project for myself, as my front bumper was all chipped up when I got it, and needs a full repaint anyways. The headlights seem to be the only thing holding me back as it would just make the project a little too much for me to justify for a daily driven "beater"
