Default Do you think this is a fair price?

Guys,

I am looking for a daily driver and I have come across a 97 LS400. It is black with tan interior, 72k and supposedly in perfect condition inside and out.

It is from a dealer and he is firm on $13,900. It seems like it is priced a little high but the dealer refuses to budge on this price. The edmunds value on it is $13,100.

I will post pictures when I get them - but do you think this is a fair deal or should I keep looking?

Thanks,
Jonny

Default depends

I technically "overpaid" for my LS 400 (1992) but it was a garage kept one owner car with 85K miles and people are stunned when they realize the car is 14 yrs old because it is immaculate. I paid 7500 and I believe the edmunds true value was somewhere in the 5-6K range. But to be honest I am completely satisfied with my purchase and the car runs like a champ. I have 10K on it myself now.

I'd say 13.5 is a fair price.

offer no more than 13500 out the door (incl tax, reg, etc) and this is assuming it has a warranty and service records.

What? I would not offer more then 11K for that car, no matter what condition. For 13K, you might get yourself in a 98 with the 90Kservice ALREADY done. Don’t forget that service is going to cost you big. You're better off getting a car with 20k more, with $2000 worth of service done, then overpay for not so low mileage, then pay again for the hefty 90K service. Financially speaking, you either get something that REALLY low to warrant the price difference, or go a little higher and save the extra money for mods.
