HELP!!! Parking Brake Warning Light Off & On
I'm REALLY hoping someone can give me some suggestions as to what in the world is going on with my '92 LS400. The parking brake warning light on my dash seems to be possesed...lol. What makes no sense to me is when I apply my brakes the PARKING brake warning light goes off, as soon as I accelerate the light is back on. I have made sure the parking brake is fully released..giving an extra tug on the release lever as well as sticking my foot under the brake and pulling up. I've read where some people were having problems with the parking brake "sticking", but I feel that isn't the problem in my case. The fact that the light goes off and on ( turns off as I stop at a red light then as soon as it turns green and I take off, the light is back on) tells me that perhaps it is an electrical issue or miscommunication with a computer. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to CL.
The obvious would be is the brake fluid reservoir at the proper level? Otherwise, the sensor there may be faulty. May also be the parking brake switch which is easily checked by visually confirming it is returning to open/closed position when the barke is released or engaged.

Thanks guys! I checked brake fluid level first and foremost; it was all the way up the the "Max line" so I think that is fine. One question, and please forgive my ignorance because I am CLUELESS for the most part when it comes to this, would the sensor in the reservoir affect the parking brake warning light??? Or is the warning light for the brakes as well as the parking brake? Also, someone mentioned it possibly having to do with wiring in the trunk.
How would I go about checking the shock on the parking brake? I so rarely use it, but it does seem to be returning back to closed position when released.
Thanks!!!!! SO happy I found this site!
