Fender/ wheel problem
I own a 91 LS with 130k miles. I am 17 and have been working on this car since last september. Ive spent alot of money on it so far however i am having a major problem. i bought rims for my car this fall, 20" NSracing rims from a local dealer. Also i have a xenon body kit and changed the color from blue to the range rover silver metalic. My dilema is my rear fenders...i notcied about a month ago after taking it our from not driving it over the winter, that the tire, once i get in my car, is right underneath my fender, and if i'm driving and hit a dip or go around a wide turn...the most awful noise you will ever hear so after thinking about it i decided to replace my struts because i know that the rims are not to big(atleast i think so) I replaced the struts (which did not come out once i pushed them in haha) with Tokico Hp. I am very pleased with the ride now however, the rims still touch the fender at some points in the ride.
so this past weekend, i noticed the rust spot on my fender that the body shop had fixed was coming through again and cracking the paint, so i took it back and told them to fix it right and to roll my fender edges in....well they aparently tried to roll the fender in 1st which caused them to break off the rust bubble which was painted so now there is a big bare spot and they told me that the rust was caused by the damage from the wheel which is a bunch of bull**** because i never drove it jsut up and down my driveway....$500 to fix
so my question is what am i sapose to do..pay the $500 and have them fiz the rust and tuck the fenders.... (my dad with his crazy idea said he would roll the fender himself somehow and rustproof and paint the spot himself with silver spraypaint )
or i can make 3/4" plates to extend the rear struts down....note that i have not even lowered my car
Ive spent so much time and money on my car i cant even drive it
and how does everyone else lower their car so much and put 20's on it without problems

sounds like your bodyshop isn't fixing the rust appropriately. the best way, some say only way, to do it is to cut out the rust, and weld in a new piece of metal in the area.
scraping the rust, replacing with bondo or whatever other sort of "fixes" are out there are inferior to cutting and welding. these other "fixes" are temporary, as you've now seen.
