Replacing stock shocks
Hey guys. Have any of you replaced your stock shocks with OEM replacements? If so, could you please share your experiences? Specifically, I would like to know what symptoms you were experiencing that led you to believe that the shocks were bad, at what mileage you replaced them, and whether you noticed a difference in the ride quality after the job was done. I have a 99 GS400 with 77,000 miles and I am on the verge of replacing my shocks, but before I do so, I'd like to hear some stories from LS owners. I've asked my GS brethren, but most of them have replaced the stock shocks with L-tuned or coilovers. Thanks in advance.

Anywhere from 80,000 to 100,000 miles is a good time to make the change.
I have had struts replaced on 3 different 400's and would only do OEM on a 400 to keep that nice smooth luxury ride.
Without fail, each strut we took off at the 100,000 mile mark would not rebound properly even without chassis weight on them.

Hey, thanks for responding. So, what was the ride like prior to replacing? Were there any symptoms? I've heard that even when shocks are completely worn, the car still passes the infamous "bounce" test. Also, how did the ride compare after the shocks were replaced?
