LS400 questions
I am looking at buying a 91' LS400. I found one with 192k miles on it for $2700. What should I watch out for?
The owner told me the radio does not work - so that is somethign I am going to replace. The only problem is, I can't find a dash kit. Some of the other threads here have mentioned going to http://www.sfxaudio.com/cgi-bin/search.asp?q=lexus but their site does not seem to be working.
Other suggestions?
TIA

I am not a long time owner but
there are many things you should check out, especially on a lower priced vehicle like this one. I'd take the car to a qualified technician and have it completely looked over, odds are it could use some suspension work and at the least one of the many fluids replaced. Check the records to see if the major maint. has been done. Look out for any brake irregularities, steering wheel looseness, and any other electrical issues. Remember-when buying an older car like this with such expensive parts/labor you often do not save money by buying it cheap unless you really know what you are doing.
The CD changer in the back is probably out if it is OEM. $$ or hassle replacing it.
Make sure the dash lights up quickly when the car is cold $$ and hassle.
If the car cranks a little more than usual have the battery and alt. checked to see if it may be a starter problem if the starter is still OEM, substantial $$ in labor if so.

I got my radio dash kit from ebay.
The radio in my LS400 isn't working either.
do some searching. you can find the dash kit and the adapter kit online.
I hear that the Scosche TA02 Car Stereo Wiring kit from cardomain will fit the car. I will find out this week.

You know what is sad about that? I am a moderator over at acurazine and I tell people that all the time. Yet, I came here and didn't do it myself. Sorry about that.

Yeah, its not because I’m annoyed to see them, or just because having to answer so many times, but it clutters the forums, which makes any forum much less desirable to surf with repetitive threads. Especially when it comes to questions about first gens. Thanks for being very understanding.
