I like my Tokico's.. good blend of comfort and handling. When you combine them with other suspension mods like the daizen bushings, you get a great improvement in handling.

i finally got the components that i need
here are pics of the one and only bilstein/tanabe shockspring combo not installed on the car
i believe this is the "perch" that people are referring to. i honestly think it's just a reinforced snap ring. to open and adjust (move down), you will need a reverse clamp. the distance between them looks insignificant, but we'll find out as soon as it gets installed
the spring sits about .5" below the length of the piston, so that will mean premature wear. moving the snap ring down will make the spring about 1" below the length of the piston. i will install them on saturday. there will be before and after pics

Yeah Chubby those grooves are the perches where the spring rests on the strut. I initially had them installed at the top position. When I moved it to the lowest perch (groove) I got about .75 to 1" more drop in addition to the 1" from the H&R springs.
I got the look I wanted but did notice a bit harsher ride especially in the front (reduced strut travel, etc. All in all I would not change it back bro.
Looking forward to your pics - yours should drop more than mine with your spring selection.

I'd probably go with a known like the JIC VIP FLT-A2's.
Also ordering the YouZealand SS-kit will drop the car an additional 25cm and give the additional strut travel to not bottom out. Also takes care of some camber issues. I think the kit is ~$550. Call one of the guys at Carson and see if they can get it.

Nice drop but you'll probably have to drill/clear the upper strut tower for the control arm.

The kits allows more strut travel by raising the strut mount position. The effect also places the lower arm in a position thinking it is not as low as it really is, so the camber effect is slightly compensated. The other issue with these is it will place the upper control arm in a higher position so super low ride heights you will have to drill out/make clearance for the top spindle mounts to clear on the strut towers. (Or whatever you call that mount for the spindle assembly.) It's not much, maybe 25mm more lowering but suspension travel, that 25mm can mean a lot.

Measure before after so you know how much it drops. So long as you measure the same way/place...fender well to wheel rim or wheel well to floor.
I dunno how many times someone asks how much a combo lowers the car and the reply quotes the manufacturers spec's or it is a guess.
