Air Conditioner OUT A/C NEED HELP
Hello,
Need some help, my air conditioner is not working properly in my 1998 LS400. The air is blowing, however its not as cold as it should be. When i hold my hand up to the vent, it is colder than the air that is making it to my face. With 105 degree weather, this is beating me down. HELP HELP, i have checked the a/c filter and nothing wrong with that. I have bought a new air filter thinking this may be the problem, but just don't know where to install the darn thing. HELP HELP. PLEASE.
THANKS

Yup, you need a refridgerant recharge. 98's have a r134a system right? If so you can diy easy for like $30, I did with mine, took about 10-15 min. I've got a tutorial on this coming soon on my site.

You're definitely low on refrigerant. Yours uses the newer R134a, which you can buy at WalMart or any auto parts store quite cheaply. It would be easiest to buy one of the cans that has the hose attachment and gauge on the can already. To charge it, all you have to do is run the A/C and connect the hose attachment to the low side. It is much like adding air to your tire.
You will notice 2 different A/C ports, one is called the "high side" and the other is the "low side". Usually the low side is the port nearest to the compressor. Even if you're not sure which side is which it won't matter- the hose connection will only fit the low side!
Hold the can upside down when charging, and don't overcharge it!
