Default Gen1 Alarm Question

Hi guys.

This is probably in my manual somewhere, but I'm being lazy today.

I've got a 91 LS with the alarm/lock button on the side of the key, but it doesn't beep or honk the horn when I lock or unlock the doors.

Is it possible to turn on the beep or horn so I get some feedback that the car is secure?

thanks,
Sean

Nope, there isn't and it's not in the manual either.

I think the 93's+ beep, and 98+ flashes the signal lights and beep.

We were talking about the locking and unlocking tone made when using the remote.

However, just as an FYI, there are two horns in the LS, one for driving purposes; the other is for the alarm. Sounds a little different, and MUCH louder.

The panic button will flash the HID’s highbeams, and tails, and signal lights. Pretty much everything except fogs.

Sorry but thats wrong. They are both used for the alarm and both used as the horn. They are both different tones so when combined they have a good and loud honking sound. That is how it is on my car, maybe its different for you later model LS.

Is there anyway to hook up our horns so they beep when you lock/unlock the car?

If it is anything like our '93 ES was like, there was no sound, just had to listen for the sound of the door lock.

I honestly think that's more fordish, because all the fords with alarms honk, but that's just me.

I donno, a lot of newer cars are doing it nowadays, it just draws my attention, to each their own i guess. keeps the world turning!

Oh yeah and i dont know about you guys, but i always hated my keyless remote becuase its not so "remote" to me. I always have to be within like 10-15 feet of my car for it to even work. oh well.

10-15 feet isn't so bad. Mine with a new battery is more like 5 fee.

Wow Macc, yours is a year newer than Xir's. You'd think it would be about the same, are you sure it's not the remote?
