I've read in the Electronics forum that JL Audio makes a free air sub that pretty much drops right in the stock location and gives pretty decent sound, for a free air sub!!

I don't remember if it was here or in the Electronics forum but I seem to recall the sub replacement in the first generation LS being a DIYproject. Has anyone done the swap?? Loule, I KNOW you can answer this!!

Yes a JL Audio Free Air 8 or 10 inch would be perfect. You also might want to add an extra amp..maybe 50 to 100 watts would be perfect.

A Warning about adding aftermarket subs: Your Lexus dealer will probably not install the subwoofer upon request because of the fact that JL is not Lexus product. If you do want to install a aftermarket, find a good dependable audio shop dealer that is trust worthy and maybe recommended by friends.

this was all part of my plan! how much does a decent 8inch sub cost. i was never much of an audio guy. i was always the guy with the guted out racer car

Replacing the sub is easy, don't need the dealer.
I posted somewhere about how to remove the rear seat.
Let me find it.

Here's the thread about removing the back seat. Damn Loule, too busy looking at body kits to help this poor guy out. https://www.clublexus.com/vb/showthr...threadid=15965

true... that is a damn old resurrection though... I'm about to do a 12" Image Dynamics IDQ in my rear deck. I haven't done anything exploratory yet but 12" shouldn't be a problem to do IB...
