Default Suspension/driveline

I have a 1991 LS400, I can hear a clunk over bumps in the right front. The dealer checked it and said I need a new front upper control arm and a rear upper arm also. They said you can't replace the ball joint seperatly because the ball joint is not available without the whole arm. These arms are quite expensive and I would like to fix this when I put my new Eibach/Tokico suspension kit in at the same time. Any one have any ideas or dealt with this. Also I'm getting a vibration and they said I need a new drive shaft, real expensive! any ideas?

Thanks.

I would wait and see what your new control arms do first before the drive shaft. Usually, worn out bushings "which is exactly what you have if you're hearing the famous Lexus clunk" creates vibrations as well. I've got a 95 and getting ready to replace all my control arms. I've got vibrations as well. Don't think I've heard anyone needing to replace the propeller shaft unless they've broken in half.

Can you describe the vibrations in detail and at speed do they occur?

The vibrations start around 80km and get worse the faster you go from there. I think Lexus sells the center steady bearing, maybe thats it?

Flexible Couplings are probably bad. They're two of them, one on each end of the drive shaft. $140 a piece, give or take a coulple bucks.

You have to replace the upper arms if the upper balljoints are worn.
