Default 100 Octane

I only put the 93 Octane in my LS400, but how much of a difference will it make if I put 100 in it?

Absolutely none, except you'll be out an additional $50 for the cost of the full tank of fuel. So if you pay with a bunch of pennies or change, your car will be lighter and you'll go faster

Unless you have an engine with forced induction or extremely high compression and timing controls which can take advantage of the better fuel, it will go to waste. I think I've even read some articles that say it can potentially harm the engines not tuned for it (can't remember why though...)

Hello,

over here in Germany you can get 100 Octane at Shell or BP/Aral, It is called V-Power or Ultimate 100. These 2 offer it instead of 98 Octane Super Plus. Over here we use the ROZ Norm. V-Power costs about 1,279€ for a liter thats about 6,20$ for a gallon!

Citgo sells it in some places (also known as aircraft fuel - 100 octane). Last time I checked it was $4.50 a gallon. Try 2-3 gallons when your low fuel light comes on and see it it makes a difference. I doubt it, but that way you have only wasted an extra 4-6 bucks.

Well around here you can only put 93 Octane in, but you can buy additional octane at Auto Zone, Wal-mart and regular places like that. I never thought 100 actane would be $4.50 a gallon that's pushing it considering 93 is $2.50

I think 100 octane is overkill bigtime & the price of it & the very few places you can actually get it reinforces that.

The octane boosters you can purchase in a bottle in stores raises the octane rating of a 20 gallon tank of gas by 0.5 octane rating for $5 each bottle. So if you put 93 octane gas at @ $2.50 a gallon, 20 gallons will cost you $50 + 14 x $5 to raise it to 100 octane = total cost of $120. Now, if you pump the $4.50 a gallon, real 100 octane gas, 20 gallons will cost a mere $90. What a bargain!!! It is still cheaper to pump the 100 octane gas than trying to raise the octane content by inserting additives.
