What is the time duration when this filter should be changed? What is the function of this filter?

It filters up the air going into the cabin through the AC vents. Depending on Climate and individual needs, I would estimate about roughly every year.

lexus says they recommend every 15,000. However the instructions say you can use a blow air to clean them out so then you might be able to get a little bit more out of them.

Hello,

is it possible to switch the parts to make the filter fit in a 92 LS?

yes, from outside, and recalculated air from the inside.

I think there was some discussion about this in the SC forums a while ago, and they determined it wasn’t easy due to different design, but I’m not entirely sure about the LS, but I don’t know of anyone who successfully done it.

I did this about a year ago. It was fairly easy to do and there was a huge improvement in the airflow coming through the vents after doing this.

I'm interested in adding a cabin air filter to my 91 LS400. I see in the previous post that someone has done this. Could anyone expand on what parts I need and what steps I need to take to do this? Thank you.

As it turns out, most Lexus models came with the location for the filter, but just didnt have a filter installed. So check if your 91 has a place where the filter can be inserted, and if you do, all you have to do is buy a filter and install it.

Default Cabin Filter Change

The manual recommends at 140mile . I happened to do it, and teh stuff was full of dust, geez !! The cabin now get cold in few seconds and sometimes i shudder !!! My 94 has not been changed from teh delivery date !! Now the cabin cooling is great !!! I recommend to all LS First Gen to go for it, if it is not changed.
