Angry horn not working intermittently. need help !

92 LS400, the horn works only half of the time when pressed on the horn pad at the steering wheel. seems like there are some contacts/swith that activates the horn when pressed, but I want to know how to replace them. I have gone through the search and found how to take out the steering wheel, but it doesnt address how to just take the cover off to find out where the horn switches are.
any help will be appreciated.

If you don't get any responses here, PM me in a day or two and I'll move this to the maintenance forum where maybe one of the Lexus techs can help you out. I doubt very many people will have done this.

Have you checked for corrosion or cracked wires on the harness that plugs into the horns at the front of the car? I had intermitent problems - mainly in cold weather - caused by corrosion on the terminals of some Hella horns I used on my first LS in the early 90's before Lexus came out with replacement horns that other drivers could actually hear.

The terminals on the OEM LS horns are "shrouded" which should protect from corrosion but it wouldn't hurt to check.

I assumed you tried using the 'search' feature of our forum to see if anyone had posted about it in the past. Just put 'horn' in and point at the LS forum, There are a bunch of threads out there, but not sure if they're the same problem as yours. Here are a few for example... none really match
