Default Never Seen So Much Wood In A 97' LS Coach - SEE PICS

I just bought my first Lexus. A 1997 Ls400 Coach Edition. Flawless One Owner car. I looked for about 8 months before I purchased this one. In all that looking (over 300 cars) I have not seen a wood package like this.
Does anyone know anything about this package?

That's an aftermarket wood grain package not OEM. Something you can purchase from say www.exoticwoodtrim.com for example.

Car looks clean by the way!

It's actually a form of plastic composite not natural wood!!

Most of it looks nice, but the stereo area is simply overdone, and out of place. No real wood at those prices, but high gloss resin and pigment composite.

Car looks great

I also agree about the stereo area... but it looks good everywhere else, just need a wood steering wheel.

Do you have bigger resolution versions of your pictures? I would like to see them if you do. You can not clog up my email, so send as many as you have.

If so please email to
jerry.horta@motorola.com

Thanks
Jerry

Default Wood/Stereo

The simulated wood surrounding the glovebox CD Player is found in all LS 400 's of this vintage that have the cd option.

With help from "Lexus Audio" ( an invaluable resource here at AVS !) I just put a oem CD player in a 96. The faceplate did not have the wood cover so he gave me a discount. I used some pseudo carbon fiber sticker material in its place to cover the holes.

You are a patient man to look at 300 cars. Glad it worked out. Looks great!!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I'm newly learning as much as I can about the LS Series, but "Coach Edition" sounds like a dealer "package" to me. Ford dealers do that a lot with cars like the Crown Vic and Grand Marq, coming up with all sorts of weird and wonderful names such as "Lighthouse Edition", which was the last one I saw.

That's a very nice looking LS btw.

It’s actually a factory option on the 97's only. It includes the newer 98+ wheels (different finish). more wood inside, different color emblems on lighter colors. In addition, a few other things that escape my mind at this point.

Don’t compare them with fords man, I can’t wait for the day they file for bankruptcy.

EDIT: The coach edition was offered on 97s, and platinum edition on 00's.
