engine serial number location for ls 400

can anybody tell me where i can find the engine serial number for ls400 1997?

I believe it's on the back of the engine block near the fire wall which might be difficult to see/find.

it's stamped on a cast pad on the block. Remove the cover that covers the sparkplug wire crossover and should see it, find a pad on the block with 1UZ engraved in it.
