Default Questions on LS400 Mods

hey guys,

my father has a '93 LS400, he loves it but wants better low end power, i suggested doing some exhaust work, but he doesn't want it to sound all cheesy. what is the best way to get better low end power? and if he wanted to do some exhaust work, which exhaust setup will provid with a deep sound and not all loud and ricey?

Thanks,
Tony

remember, the engine is a 4.0 V8, so any kind of exhaust work in general will have a nice deep growl to it. Unless you throw on some cheesy mufflers, then it might sound like a fart can. If you do some searching you'll find plenty of ideas. Good luck

run a bigger diameter setup on the exhaust tubing. As for the mufflers, i'd go with some flow masters. It'll be quite as heck at idle, but it'll have a deep growl once you hit the gas.

thanks for the input.....you think a couple flowmasters with a bigger catback would sound good? my father is picky as hell and doesn't want it cheesy

An alternate is to drop down slightly on tire size to reduce overall diameter. I dunno what size the UCF10/11 has, on the 20/21 it is about 26.7 with a 225/60-16, a 225/55-16 will drop it to 25.7 and this slight decrease will help in the lower range.

There is plenty of discussion about exhaust mods and you would do well to read through the header group buy thread in the GS forum. As well, the exhaust posts that jbrady has written up here.
