Default Clearing the amber out of the taillight??

I have a 96 LS, does anyone know if it is possible to open the taillights and take out the amber color piece of the taillight so it can be clear? I love the pattern of the stock taillight, just not the amber part. I don't like the ones with the white stripe in the middle (looks like old infinity and ES).
Any help/comments appreciated!

the amber is the turn signal; per DOT turn signals are to be amber, either with a bulb or with the lens. Anyway~~~~~~~~

Understood. I'm looking to remove the amber piece, if possible.

The amber cannot be removed on a LS400. Take a closer look at your car, the amber piece is the outside piece of plastic. If you removed it there wouldn't be anything there!

So if you don't like the amber, and you don't like white, then what do you want?

I think it's better for you to buy aftermarket lights
check this link: http://www.original-net.co.jp/vipcar001.htm
you can find at least 3 types of 2-nd gen LS tailligths: red/clear, diamond red/clear and clear ligths. These are japanese and expect to pay more than for chinese stuff.

Another thing is: light connectors in JDM taillights may be DIFFERENT from US

I don't know if this will help anyone, but my friend used to have this in his former '90 LS:

When I saw his car for the first time, I did a double take and thought it looked like the '00-'01 ES

I know, that is why I don't want the white line all the way across. I want the same pattern, except instead of the amber part on the outer taillights I want white/clear. I know it will turn out very nice and unique, if only I can do it!

An oven, heat gun, some precision cutting tools and acrylic...anything is possible. Whether it is worth the time and fabrication is another. For $150+ probably easier to buy.

You'll likely have to modify those coming from China as they don't fit like the OEM ones so I have been told.

And JDM tails have extra hole for turn signal light in inner piece. You can actually see it on the picture

You should try darkening the white part of your taillight to get the M5 look on it. I imagine it would look spectacular!

This is what you do. Buy the Red/Clear lights. Then only use the side one's. That way only the turning signal is clear and the whole white line won't be across. The rear lights are 4 piece's. So just use two pieces. One for each coner and leave the center ones stock.

It's not that easy as it seems. Aftermarket lights in most cases are different to factory lights. And if you put china made lights with factory ones - difference in quality will be well noticable. So if possible try before you buy it.
IMHO best option is to replace factory ones with diamond red/clear aftermarket lights. Must be looking very good. I'll post picture of my setup later. Haven't got lights yet.
