Default Tire Recommendation for 18x8

Hey Guys,
I just picked up a super clean 2000 Ls400
Its green.....not the best color but its pretty clean and I got it for a GREAT price.

Anyhow..... I picked up a set of TSW 18x8 with 40mm offset.

I dont plan on lowering the car. I like the stock feel of the car as it is. What is a good tire size for me to go?

235/45/18?
or
245/45/18?
or other suggestions....

Stock tire size is 225/60/16.

Thanks in advanced guys. I ll get pics up shortly.

The correct size is 245/45/18 if you want to keep the OEM outer diameter measurement for wheel/tire together. This will give you the best ride quality and ensure that you don't have speedometer error.

if you're lowered the 45 series will rub, go down to either a 225/45 or a 245/40 tire.

did you check to see that the wheels cleared the front brake calipers?

Did not test fit yet. It's 18x8 w 40mm offset. Do u think it will rub?

I'm leaning more towards the 245/45

Its hard to believe since the stocks are 16's
But python is correct. 18's look way to small with the stock ride height

rear: 245 40 18 front: 225 45 18
they look small and the fender gap is large

lowered with tanabe df210s
Id still like to go up a tire size all the way around but the fender gap is gone

245/45 at stock height.
18's are fine and comparing them to the stock 16's the +2 wheel sizing is ok. 19's look nicer as do 20's. Rubber for 19's isn't that wallet friendly compared to 20's. Old school there were plenty of 17-18" wheels combos that look good, depends on how you fit them up in the execution.

If the tire diameter is 26.2-26.7" there is about a 3" gap in front on properly working shocks. Back is about 2.5". That won't change unless you fit a tire with a different diameter from stock. Of course lowering improves the appearance.

Awesome guys. Thanks for the advice.

I am not looking for anything super fancy. I just think the stock wheel is super plain. Anythings gotta look better than stock.

I'm running 245/45-18 @ stock height. Smooth ride and on my car, it doesn't look like a huge gap between fender and top of tires. Ride quality on this car is very important to me.
