Default What air filter for LS400?

Let me try to word it differently.

What brand of air filter do you prefer for an LS400?

but the problem is that most K&N filters are "wet" filters, ie u need to oil them. the oil (or at least a little bit of it) has a bad tendency to travel from the filter and onto the karmann vortex MAF sensor, making it completely useless. id go with an Apex'i filter or the like since its proper "dry" filter that filters better than most "wet" ones and flows better than most as well.

I have to dissagree with you guys , I have been running a K&N for over 5 years and never had a problem , I use mine own home made intake with a K&N and my car runs great . The problem is most people over oil the filter after cleaning and they do not let it set for 30 minutes and remove any excess oil that flows out before installing.....I just had my car smogged and had to put the stock system back together and the car rans such slower...
The smog test showed that my reading so low that even the Smog Inspector could not believe them.
CO(%) 15MPH was 0.01
25MPH was 0.00

I get a Fram from Autozone and change it every 12k miles - I have a 95 LS 400 - I may try the WIX brand next.

My wife's Pop just switched to K&N on his GS and says he noticed a difference. You just have to maintain them (clean and oil) since they are good for 1 million miles. OEM is just easier for those that don't want to maintain them.

The K&N filters DO NOT make more power on the LS400 and they decrease torque and fuel economy. They DO make the car sound alot better. The BFI headlight mod is a much better alternative. Search. I should also add the OEM or Toyota filters are the best flowing filter for the stock airbox. CAI's don't work well on the car because of the lack of space to run a proper piping.
