Default Check engine light.....code No. 25

'94 LS400

I have a check engine light, with a code of 25 "Air-fuel ratio lean malfunction".

The car is getting very poor milage.

Before I pop for the service manual, is there anything I should check. Maybe an O2 sensors?

Thanks

John

Do you need any special tool to get the code.
Thanks,

No, just a piece of solid strand wire, about 20 - 22 gauge, or a paper clip.

Will this method work on a 91 LS 400? Are these the same codes?

The section on code 25 is a pretty tricky diagnostic. Mainly it looks like one or more of your O2 sensors are shot, they do wear out. You can check the sensors for proper voltage or just replace all of them. You should get much better fuel economy once you do so.

Have any of you used the universal fit and spliced them in?

The thought of puling up the front interior to replace them seems terribly inconvenient. Unless the splicing provides a poor contact.
