Question 1998 AutoLocking

Hello,

I just purchased a 1998 LS400 w/ NAV.

I was wondering if the vehicle has an autolocking feature that can be programmed into the car. (I'd like it to lock as the car accelerates or if I take the car out of Park, like my other cars).

They were able to program it so that it automatically unlocks the doors when the car is placed in Park (though I'm still getting used to that idea and the possible security implications).

The dealer says that it doesn't have autolocking available, but it really doesn't seem like they know too much... plus I find it hard to believe you can program everything else BUT that.

Any input would be appreciated.

Love the car otherwise!

Hi nsecon,

First of of all welcome to CL.

I have '99 and my dealer said the same thing. In fact, he attempted to progam it and then discovered that it couldn't be done.

And, I agree with you. You would have thought that the car would have had that feature.

Default Thanks for the reply...

I suppose I'll just live with it...

There are certainly many other things that make me smile about this car though--so I can't complain too much.

Nope no Auto Lock.

With all the things are cars can do you would think that would be one. I tried like all of you. The auto Un-lock is nice once you get use to it.

I did have them change the trunk to just one press vrs press and hold

Also I changed it to all doors unlock at once vrs just drivers.

Also change the auto lock and remote unlock to 60 seconds vrs 30

Hey guys .......

Does anybody have an actual list of what features are "adjustable"? And what the range of the parameters is for each?

I believe the manual simply says to “contact the dealer” for this info. Does it exist on the web or is there a print out from Lexus that is available?

TIA
