Considering a 97 LS400
I'm currently in a market for a used luxury car, and just found a 97 LS400 with 87K miles. This car only had 1 owner and is in excellent condition inside/out. So, my question is... what should I look for when considering this particular model year? Is there any issue I should be aware of?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Theres not really any issues with the 97LS. How much is the car that your looking at? Might want to consider looking for a 98LS. New headlights(HID), more power (290hp, 300 torque), VVti, 5spd auto, VSC and some other extra features added. There not that far apart when it comes to price. Maybe the 98 is about $3000 more. But with the added extras I think its still a bargain.

The one I found is retailed at $17K, and the car looks really nice (no dents, dings/ shiny paint). The interior is close to brand new condition.

Mark,
Depending upon the options and where you live that sounds like a good deal.
I bought a 97 (68k, Air susp., traction cont., heated seats., & Nakamichi for $17k) in December and am VERY happy. Mine was a lease return that had poor maintenance so I had to bring service up to date, replace 2 broken front door/window switches, replaced the drivers seat heater, and did a bunch of cleaning/polishing.
