Default Just bought my first Lexus a little while ago

Just a little while ago I decided to shell out the money on a 1990 LS400. I was able to talk them down to $3850. It has 225K, 1-owner miles and it is in excellent conditions. The car was originally from Kentucky, then the owners moved down here and traded it in on a new Lexus at a local Lexus dealership. Carfax checked out OK. Engine and transmission are smooth (since the plug wires were replaced) and there are no rattles or squeaks, which is what I expected for a Lexus. Not my favorite color - it is a dark burgundy, but it will do. It has been a while since I have ridden in my aunts 1990 LS400 (now with 170K), but I think hers has a little softer ride than mine does. Hers may have the auto-level suspension. I do not think that mine does. Someone may have replaced the ones on my car with "non-Lexus" rear struts. The ride is still far from uncomfortable however - it is still a very smooth riding car. All of the lights and needles in the instrument cluster still work very brightly. Also- I found it odd that even the "LCD" in the heat & A/C controls still work, but some on the lights on the actual heat / AC buttons- such as the temperature button and air vent mode do not work. Was this a common problem? Also- the keyless entry does not work- perhaps it needs a battery in the key. I would rather pay more for this car than the possibly problem plagued 84 Mercedes I was going to buy yesterday. Hopefully this Lexus will last me for a few years. Thanks for any advice / information.

Thanks for that link. This must be a common problem? In the daylight- it will obviously be no problem. Probably not even at night, after I get used to the controls. The last time I test drove it- it was in the daylight. This was only my second time driving the car and it was dark. At least 1/2 of them still work. Thanks again.

Yeah it is a common problem. A good whack on your AC controll unit should fix the problem, if not then go with the instructions I have put up. Good luck.
