Been entertaining the idea of installing these: https://www.amazon.com/Philips-X-tre.../dp/B00U2NHLTI (Philips X-treme vision LED Fog light bulbs) into the low beams of 2015 prius.

I realize these LEDs will not be as bright as traditional halogen bulbs, but want to see if anyone has had first hand experience with the light output.

If not these LEDs, do you have any recommendations for other bulbs? Not a fan of the 'Blue Glass' tinted h11 bulbs and am looking for something in the 5500k range.

Do the H11 to H9 bulb conversion and you will have much brighter vision. However, the bulbs burn out every year as a trade off for increased light, but they are cheap. You can google it as this has been covered in many Toyota and in Prius Chat forums. I recommend the Bulb Zilla adapter harness which makes the conversion plug and play except for cutting part of one metal tab off the bulb base, which takes about a minute.

Thanks for the info, I will look into this kit. I also notice a few people modify the h9 to fit the h11 connector. Do you have any experiences with this?

No, I have always used the Bulbzilla kits as they make the whole process so easy as you do not have to cut the plastic tab from inside the base. Modifying bulb sockets or bases is not something I want to trouble with. Cutting part of the one metal tab off is the easy part. I would probably break the bulb trying to remove that plastic tab from inside the base of an H9 bulb. Just get Bulbzilla and then the Philips H9 bulbs on Amazon or elsewhere. Just a heads up for anyone else who attempts this. I ended up using a 9005 LED in a H11 (2015 toyota prius lowbeam) housing and a h11 to 9005 connector. The difficulties are ensuring the bulb fits snug and stays in one spot. The 9005 does NOT fit in the H11 fitting and I've somehow managed to wedge it in.

In regards to the light output. It seems to be decent. I can not tell if side pattern (i.e. beam spread/pattern) is due to the bulb or the projector itself. Its either the projector design or the 180 light output of the LED compared to the 360 of a traditional halogen bulb. I did have to re-align the cut off for the projector 1-2 degrees up. The cut-off is still sharp and below most regular car mirrors (sorry slammed cars).

These bulbs are for Fog Light only.
If you want LED bulbs for headlight, we do have Valenti Japan LED bulbs which is brighter than HID.

Thanks for the information Nigel.

I ended up using another brand (Chinese) LED that uses the Phillips Luxeon lumileds (rated at 2500LM/PC) . If the light pattern seems to degrade, I will be in contact.

I apologize in advance if I come off as pretentious.

First up, you should never modify your headlights in any way.

When they engineer these headlights, they build the housing around the bulb.

You are however, in the right direction by sticking to OEM, as these are the ONLY road legal replacement...FOR YOUR FOGS.

Don't ever do business with someone who sells "headlight kits". These kits are all black market and the sellers make easy money from you.

If you do a google search for HID lights, you'll see nothing but ads for HID kits and you get no real info on what can and can't be done according to laws and regulations.

I do own a set of these fog light replacement btw.

Lastly, what you can do is see if theres an LED or HID option for you cars year and buy the oem set.
