Default Converted to HIDS yet?

Just wanted to check if anyone had their headlights converted to the HID lights yet.

I'm waiting for my kit to arrive and will be doing the conversion soon.

Need to know if there are any installation issues.

Thank you!

After installing, will this break the water seal on the lens?

And what does 7500k mean. Is that a rating of the light output?

I drove a SL55 AMG and the lights were amazingly bright. Turning on high beams seemed to make the sun rise. Here's the description of their lights. Not much, but wondering if there was a chart out there to compare output.

Xenon High Intensity Discharge low-beam headlamps with automatic leveling (via Active Body Control) and halogen high beams. Driver-selectable light-sensing auto-on headlamps. Driver-programmable Daytime Running Lamps illuminate low-beam headlamps in daylight, with auto-on override in darkness and with wiper use. Heated headlamp washers. Halogen front foglamps. Single red rear foglamp. Auxiliary LED turn indicators, integrated with side mirrors

Default It shouldn't

If it's just a 9005 conversion kit it shouldn't break any seals...it should just be a set of ballasts and an HID bulb that fits into the original 9005 halogen opening.

Default Right on the dot.

Johnny Mo

you hit the nail on the head.
the kit I bought is just a conversion kit with the ballasts and HID bulbs.

I'm hoping all that needs to be done is to take off the current bulbs and install the new hids with the ballast.

Lightbulb An FYI on retrofit xenons per their website

At Proxenon.com it states in their FYI:
13) Are HID bulbs street legal?
HID bulbs are not legal to use on United States public roads. We recommend using HID bulbs only in off road, closed private circut or car show settings. ProXenon does not endorse any illegal use of the HID conversion kits. All of the kit components are top quality and are certified bythe Department of Transportation but are not certified as retrofit.

Now if they are not street legal or not certified as retrofit, what is the point?

Just curious, as I can notice a big difference between my 5 series headlights and my GX headlights. The 5 series are further reaching. But it seems one cannot change the GX's into xenons unless you want to deal with FYI #13 above.

Default RETROFIT

that is why you do not change or convert into the higher lumen HIDS such as the 8000K and 10000K

using the 6-7500K range, will be like the Xenons in the imported vehicles from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc.

with so many Xenons in new vehicles nowadays, it should not be that big a problem.

To get access to the bulb don't you have to go through the lens and break the seal in the process. Sorry it has been a while since I have tried to change bulbs. 10 years

Question Lowbeam Headlight 9005 Confirmation?

I checked the manual of the GX and it does not specify the 9005 for the lowbeams.

The manual I have shows a ----

Can someone please confirm that the lowbeams of the GX are indeed a 9005 bulb type.

Default Team ProXenon

FYI

Here's an email I got from ProXenon tonight. I also asked about the 9005 and am waiting for a response.

-----------------------------

Hello, the price you mentioned must be mistaken. $368 cannot even get you a 6000K. If you plan to purchase, we may give you a discount same as last time, $468._ And still we guaranty this is the best price in the market. _ thanks _ Team ProXenon

Default Response from ProXenon

Here is the email response I got from ProXenon:

------------------------------------------

Hello, The installation is less than 5 minutes. Cuz this is retrofit kit, which means direct plug in and play not special tool and other accessories needed during the installation. Yes, your car is 9005 low beam, and we do have that special application for you. No modification need, whatsoever.

Thanks, _ Team ProXenon

Default Pricing

since I had given my order for the HID-9005 more than two months ago, i would assume that the price for the HIDS have now gone up. Although it looks like the current prices are still better than the competitors.

glad to see that the lowbeams are indeed 9005.
