4100k is the brightest in terms of light output -- as you get higher up the color temperature, the light output is decreased.

reasons why i am sure? couple of times i sit right beside bimmer (3 series and 5 series), mb (clk), audi (tt and a4) and my 6000k outshine and also show WHITER and BLUER than theirs. so there is no way their lights are higher color temp than mine.
and also, my friend with a 330ci put his car beside another bimmer with 6000k, it wasn't even funny, his lights look like crap.... he went out, bought and changed to 6000k. now he's happy

basically anything with color temperature higher than 4100k is getting dimmer. even my 6000k i can TELL you the light output is not as good as the stock 4100k.
if you look at the hid from OUTSIDE the car, 6000k will seem to be brighter, but that's coz' 6000k has different light pattern and the light STARTS to shoot everywhere instead of a very focused beam by the 4100k. with 8000k light shoots even more to everywhere, that's WHY you THINK it's brigher.
but the real comparison should be when you are inside the car and look at the road. 6000k does NOT light up the road as good as 4100k, and 8000k is just even worse. i can tell 6000k is not as good on the road as the stock but i can still live with it.
i have sat in a car with 8000k. on the same road that i have driven with 6000k and stock 4100k it's really dim, that's all i can say

M6 parking lights
Synergy, I am interested in upgrading my parking lights to either M4 or M6's. With your M6 bulbs on, do on coming vehicles ever flash you thinking that you have brights on with both your hid and parking lights running?

Rominl,
What kind HID upgrade kit did you use? All the Philips upgrade kits require battery connection, only McCulloch HID upgrade kit (5000K) use stock wiring but you have to change stock 15 amp fuse to 20 amp fuse. Where did you get your HID kit? I am confused. I want to upgrade lights on my 1999 GS300 but I do not know which HID upgrade kit is better. Please help!

nop, that's incorrect. all audi and bimmer use 4100k also. like i said many many time it's the projective housing / lens that make the purple look from a distance AND certain angle. they are still 4100k bulbs.

Rom, I'm going to have to disagree with you on the part that 4100K is brighter than the 6000K.. I forgot what Kelvin sunlight is rated but I know it's around 5000K.. And if that stands, they should illuminate the road about the same...
And as for BMW or anyother company using any kind of HID that's over 4300K, I believe is illegal. And I know that they aren't going to do that.....
DK99, I upgraded my non-hid GS to Philips 6000K and with the Philips it's just a plug and play.. And that's that... No changing wires or fuses... And also Philips is considered one of the "best"..

Mrsypher, how long have you had your HID kit and where did you get it? With all different kits on the market and different opinions it is really difficult to make a choice.

but either way, i guess with a little tweak in the lens the 6000k will light up the road just as good
