Default How to convert from 9006 to D2R bulbs?

I have a dilemma here. My GS3 did not come with HIDs...so that said, the head lights are 9006 bulbs. I am wanting to go to HIDs but I want as little glare as possible, so I picked up a set of stock GS430 bowls which use D2R bulbs. My question is, how do I get HIDs using the GS430 bowls? I heard that there's an HID kit that will allow me to use the 9006 harness and will allow me to use the D2R bulbs. I tried looking on ebay but can't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated

There's a HID kits conversion. You don't have to get D2D bulbs. It convert your 9006 to a higher output. I'm sure you can find in the SEARCH sections under HID Conversion..

Thanks everyone! You guys are definately putting me on the right track, however I am still a little confused. I looked at the convertors listed on Ebay that you guys have listed, and I don't see 9006 sockets on any of them. I don't understand how these converters are going to work if I can not connect to them my 9006 harness from off the car.

The is the HID kit I have already. I guess I'm looking for connections exactly like this, the only differnce is the bulb is D2R. Something that will plug right into this ballast.

That "9006 socket" that you have circled is extra. The 9006 harness from the car will connect right into the ballast. The wire that splits into two plugs from the ballast will connect to the adapter. The adapter will then connect to the bulb.

Oh, duh...how did I not notice that! Thanks for the help and clearing that up for me.

Below I've listed the back of the bowl, and the second shows the clip and cover that I had to order as they were missing. I just ordered 1 of the D2R convertors that you've guys listed off Ebay, but now I have other questions. I'm worried things are not going to work togher to make things happen. I'm assuming the D2R bulb just pushes or screws right into the D2R convertor, but how does the convertor stay still in the clip (shown on the right of pic 2)? Also, I put both the clip and the cover together on the bowl fine, but with the cover on, I don't see how the wiring from the ballast to the bulb is goign to work as there are no holes behind the cover. That said, how is this going to work...how the bulb inside going to get power from the ballast outside witht he cover on?

Some kits come with a grommet and what you do is drill a hole in in the cover and have the wires run through it like so.

Hmm, so let's say I was using the stock setup, balast and all. How does that work if the ballast is outside of the cover mounted under the head light? Just curious. So are you saying the caps on the GS430 has a hole through it?

I guess my understaning is that though this is an aftermarket kit, the setup (wiring from ballast to bulb mostly) would still resemble the how the 430 comes. Am I mistaken?

Also, I'm still curious how the bulb is going to stay in possition.

The cover does not have a hole. You'd have to drill it. But I woudn't drill anything. Inside the casing where the cavity between the pastic and the bowl there are holes you can run you bulb into (might have to cut the wire and reattach; i'd figure a way out first before cutting). The bulb is retained by the clips. Just fit it and clip it.

edit: my bad, I thought u were talking about the HID circled above.

Guys, I actually figured out the whole wiring things. You're not suppose to drill a whole. There's already a whole right under the light that I just now noticed. That's why the stock ballast on the GS430 is right under the light.

I'm still lost on how the bulb is going to sit in place though. I got the D2R convert today and put the whole assemble together (minus the actual bulb), and there's free play on the converter with the clip and everything in place. That means, the bulb is not going to be still. Am I missing something here?
