After some research and hunting for a hid kit, I had some questions. I wanted to go with the oem gs hid headlights and oem gs hid kit in order for the beam pattern to look better, but does it all have to be oem from a lexus gs.

I know the headlights have to be hid, but does the ballast and bulbs have to be lexus too. Can you mix and match. Could I use a after market kit with the lexus hid headlight? Can I use the ballast and bulbs from another lexus for the gs hid headlight?

Any bulb that is D2R size (OEM HID size for cars with reflectors), will work with the OEM GS housings. As long as you've got the D2Rs (and the proper ballasts for such), it doesn't matter if you sourced the bulbs/ballasts from a GS, LS (pre-04), IS, RX (pre-04), or an older Acura or Mercedes with reflector housings, etc.

yup, you can put in any stock hid kits as long as they are d2r. mounting the ballasts under teh headlights might be a problem though, i know the lexus ballasts are quite big. but in terms of "working" or not yes it will work as long as it's d2r
