Instead of HID's Ive heard some ppl converting their headlights to projectors ??? If this is true, how so ? What is required to retrofit your headlights ? Anyone who has done/plans on doing this please shed some light to me .... Its either HID's or projectors ... Need brighter lights, I cant freakin see the floor in pitch dark with halogens... POTHOLES ARE BLACK TOO !!!!

yes lexus4jess! please post pics ASAP! Other than that, a guy here did the E39 (5 series Bimmer) projector upgrade about this time last year. He's got a 99 GS. The results are tight as hell. Here's the link...

It was done by Illusion-Lighting. One of the head honchos frequents this site. His name is See-Fuu. Talk with him if you'd like them to do your setup. (man I gotta get paid for saying that lol)
Good luck bro

The whole project shouldn't run you more than 500 total (including the extra stuff you gotta pick up at walgreens like velcro tape for your ballasts, glue/jb weld, electric tape, relay wiring etc). I got all of mine for about 375-400 tops but that was over a year ago.
You'll need:
2 HID projectors (be sure to check out the "HID Retrofit FAQ" OEM Xenon projector chart...you can find it via google searching to find their site and go from there) $150-200 depending on which model
2 Ballasts I'd go D2 route with the self contained ignitor (Hella design) $150
2 HID D2S bulbs (I'd stick with Philips OEM 4100K...with the right projector, you can get the violet color flicker you see on Audi/BMW/S2000 Honda cars in oncoming traffic) those run like 60 a pair on Ebay
A decent wire harness (15.00)
And a relay to run the power from the battery...dont' just think you can hook everything up to you standard headlight wiring. $10.00
Unless you wanna take frequent trips to the Lexus dealer for new headlight wires.
Xenon power requires about 30000 volts at startup and gradually decreases to 35 watts once the bulbs warm up. Your halogen light wires werent' even designed to handle that amount of juice. Hence the need for the harness and the relay. Anything else you need, just PM or post here.

Ohh yeah....you might wanna get some decent schrouds to cover up your projectors in the headlight. Ever seen a 3 series BMW up close? That lil trim ring that says Xenon isn't there just for show. Grab a pair of these as well...Ebay is a good source..other wise, check with the HID FAQ. They usually run good classifieds there as well.
Here's a pic

Its on the headlight covering up the projectors.
Good luck on the project

I did my own on the first try. I thought it was gonna be hard in all actualities...the process wasn't difficult just time consuming. You have to be delicate. However, I would do the job for you. But since you're on the west coast already, why not just PM see_fuu and ask them how much they would charge. I beleive you can take your car there and watch them do it ri ght in front of you

Yup free advertising and customers for you and 0% payout for the rest of us. Totally fair right? We know you do good work. Thats why we continue to recommend folks to you. Nothing personal, its just business. If someone continues to contribute to the food on your table, they should at least be entitled so some form of compensation. Does that make sense?
