Silly thread. I think a moderator should remove this thread. No reference, no proof, no pricing details. What do you expect anyone to say? That comment speaks nothing of the market value.

Just one click on dupont registry clearly shows used LFAs with 2000 - 3000 miles are still selling at $330 - $380,000. NASCAR owner Rob Kauffman just recently auctioned his used Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition for $505,000. About $50,000 over MSRP.

In the light of all this, anyone desperate to sell his car quickly would reduce the price. Still, it does not fall in line with what the consumer pays as the market bears the value. Your example has nothing to do with the market value.

As I've mentioned previously, nearly all of the Autotrader listings don't have real VINs, so it's hard to take them seriously. Of the few that do, several are actually used even though listed as "new".

That said, I'd love if the resale value plummeted since I'm thinking about picking up a Nürburgring Edition.

Agreed. There are so many scams on the internet. Of the 178 LFAs in the US, 36 being listed as "new" is highly suspicious on the internet since there are only a handful in showrooms now.

No matter how the resale fluctuates in the shorter term, over the long term it would be exactly like the Toyota 2000 GT (390 in total ever produced) that now sell for over $1.5 million in mint condition.

That is awesome. Then you would be like that German guy who has a standard LFA and a Nurburgring Editon LFA. Would be nice to see both of your LFAs together.

If it does not have the VIN and does not state the mileage then yes it is a scam.

There is no way there are 36 brand new LFAs at present in US (as in, less than 50 miles on them).

However,I can't see why a Lexus dealer would pay for advertising on a vehicle they don't have or can get.
It's not like they can sell you anything else like that if you call.

Why don't you post link up to your 36 brand new or whatever car search you are seeing so that other people can look?

In the case of Herb chambers, his LFA was posted by "someone else" who had pictures of the car with his dealership name on various sites including eBay.

You seem unaware that there are a lot of scammers on autotrader. A proper reliable exotic source for exotic sales is DuPont Registry and there are only 12 LFAs for sale and many of them are used and some outdated. Roy Mallady's two LFAs are still listed on there, but they were sold 3 months ago.

There is no detail on many of the cars. No mileage to see if they are used or new, no VIN on many of them. Many of them state 1000+ miles on them. No credibility to this search here.

Not because of the scam angle, but no way to validate they are not outdated ads that have not been taken down. Roy Mallady's 2 LFAs were sold three months ago and they are still listed for sale when one of them is now in Poland already.

p.s. McGrath's LFA Nurburgring Edition has been used in many contests and has seen track many times (including LFA yearly events) and it is listed for sale at $455K here. That is far from new.

FYI... Yes there can be.. And yes they can be legally sold as NEW with over 50 miles...

ANY LFA sitting in a showroom floor that has NEVER been registered is still NEW...

Doesn't matter if it has 50, 100, 200, 500 or 1,500 miles...

It just means the right person at the dealership is allowed to drive it.

At this point, they are considered leftovers from 2012., since all were manufactured in 2011-2012.
(Some early first wave ones were manufactured end 2010)

More likely, it's a bait-and-switch type tactic where they list a new car and when prospective buyers call, they tell them they only have a used one left.

The bottom line is that if they were serious, they'd list the VIN.
