To oohpapi44:

I agree completely that the cop was "just doing his job", as it was a "fair catch". As far as track time, unfortunately there's not a long enough track within 200 miles to open up a car like this, so my only option is a deserted highway...

The car has about 2000the miles on it. Not my daily driver, but she gets out almost every weekend for car shows and spirited cruises with the car club I belong to. Several long trips, and always a pleasure to drive...

The only LFA I have heard of needing serious repair is ill-fated #142, which is the one involved in a collision in Florida. Followed it to Texas on the internet but then lost track it. Not sure it was ever repaired...

lunaC42,

Thanks for the info.

Regarding the crashed car, it is waiting patiently in Texas with a $310K asking price.

http://www.lemonfree.com/car/Lexus-L...HX8BH7C1000140

Based on the challenges to get parts to fix it and the cost of those parts, it is likely to keep sitting there.

I am trying to find out if any of these cars have failed in any way mechanically or electrically as my belief is the Lexus built these things as stoutly as possible. This is the big difference between the LFA and the offerings from the other super car makers.

Other questions

Being in PA, are you planning on getting some winter shoes for your car?

Have you met any other LFA owners?

Have you driven or owned other high performance cars?

Have you wanted a super car for a long time and finally did it or was this kind of a oh look at this, I'll do it situation?

Have you used the Enform system as there is a rumor that the LFAs have their own service of some sort?

Have you had it in for any service yet?

A question regarding the LFA transmission. Does it let you bounce off the rev limiter/fuel-cut off in manual sport mode at 9500 rpm?? I think it does as I vaguely remember having seen it in one video, but I am curious if that is actually the case.

very cool, nice to see other LFA owners come and join this community. Seems like Gengar was getting lonely before you showed up

Hello again -

Thanks for the update on #142. I saw she disappeared from e-bay about a month ago. I worry for her future.

I will try to answer as many of your questions as possible...

1) snow tires? nah, i test drove the grey prototype in a snow storm on 12/7/10 (yes, pearl harbor day), and took delivery of my LFA 12/17/11 (also during a light flurry). the car does surprisingly-well on slick/wet pavement, but i'll stick to the RAV4 in winter.

2) have not met any other LFA owners, other than the owner of my dealership (who chose not to keep his). i have the only LFA in western PA.

3) the closest "high performance car" i've had is my IS F. wasn't really thinking about a "supercar" until i heard about the LFA. became obsessed, had to have it. have since compared it to other supercars, but none really interests me as much. would like another IS F with all the CCS-R upgrades...

4) LFA does have enform, but the software wasn't set up to accept the special VINs of the LFAs. have been working with lexus customer service to change that. isn't perfect yet for the mobile app. have used the operator-assisted e-destinations with success, however.

5) first oil change isn't due until 6000 miles (believe it or not). been trying to get one sooner, but the first change requires a crate of tools and flying a guy out from lexus corporate. working on the logistics of that.

6) yes, if you redline in sport mode the car automatically down shifts. it actually has many self-preservation features to keep drivers from killing the engine. fascinating software - the engineers thought of everything.

gengar, do you have your baby yet? i wasn't even in town for delivery (bad mommy!), but my corporate rep sent me texts every 5 minutes throughout the day. really amazing buying and ownership experience. i talk with other female "supercar" owners, and it seems they got the usual male chauvinistic questions like "is your husband going to let you drive it"? etc. no such attitude from anyone at lexus. truly fantastic.

thanks again everyone. drive safe!

Wow Luna I can really tell that #142 is in good hands and won't sit inside the garage sleeping collecting dust like some of the other LFA's. You should make a introduction thread and post more pics and videos of her

Wow! That is quite the bizzare dual stereotypical rhetoric that many of these rich people have in mind that because a woman is driving an expensive supercar, it must belong to her husband because they have a difficult time seeing a woman as an enthusiast and that her husband must be the rich one to be able to afford such a car.

Very nice incite on the car. I only got to drive one once last year at Sonoma Raceway but they didn't really let me push it. I don't think I hit triple digits because I was following the instructor in the IS-F. Fastest I've been in my GTR is 175mph on the freeway to Vegas but I have yet to do anything that crazy again.

The occasional handlers of #032 told me that the LFA Enform is a special concierge service that appears to be different from typical Lexus Enform. No idea how this is handled - I also have no personal experience with this as I do not have Enform on my LFA - it is Config II.

I took delivery last March. I was quite lucky with the dates as I took delivery in NW Indiana and the delivery day was the only day in about a 2-week period that I could have driven home due to the freezing temps otherwise. Then again, P014 and #032 seemed to handle the near-freezing temps just fine a week later at Autobahn CC in Joliet.

I do agree with the excellent service provided by Lexus' LFA team. Nothing but top-notch professionalism from the LFA specialists I worked with.

Thanks, stanjohn. I truly hope something new pops up soon. Five of us in my car club were pulled over last weekend, but just "warnings" issued. Now laying kinda low...

Gengar - thanks for your input. Bought you a track version, huh? What's your top speed so far? Done the launch? Yeah, winter sucks...
