Stopped by the ring on the way home Monday morning. It wasnt open to the public because this Lexus was hooning round. Sorry the pics are st, I cant express just how fast this passed by. I completely missed the side on pan shot...We were next to the crest and clearly heard it get air and land.

Default LFA record lap today

Just recieved a text from an owner at the event. The LFA broke the fastest lap at Nurburgring at 7 min 14 sec. 4 seconds faster than the previous fastest lap held by a Corvette ZR1 with special racing tires.

I am sure watching the video with proper sound would be exciting. I hope there is a video for it soon.

Did you mean special racing tires on the ZR1 or the LFA? Thanks.

I think he means ZR-1 on Cup R compound tires (OEM tires). The Nurburgring edition only uses the RE70 Potenza high-grip tires. They are summer performance tires comparable to what cars like Nissan GTR (Dunlop) and 458 Italia (Pilot SS) have, but they are not R compound tires.

Thanks, Rolla. That's what I thought. I just wanted to make sure because, if the 7:14 is true, I didn't want the usual suspects crying about the Nur Edition having special tires. It's okay for the ZR1, but definitely not okay for the LFA...if you know what I mean....

I will faint, if it turns out to be 7:13.x like Lexus Europe is claiming.

I would kill to watch the video of Akira Iida blasting that lap out with full high quality sound.

hate to say I told ya so, but I told ya so! in all seriousness, they said it could potentially go as fast as their race car, here's the proof.

True. I stand corrected. I know you said 7:15 is possible on OEM tires, but I kept saying no way better than 7:18 on street OEM tires. R compounds, maybe.

Here, we are talking about 7:13 on stock OEM street tires.

I can hear the haters now...

7:14 doesn't mean anything since you're just driving a super expensive camry!

All jokes aside, I'm glad I put my faith in Lexus and they came through, just like with the 4GS. LFA is an amazing piece of craft.
