Smile What does an OEM Lexus LFA factory carbon fiber hood cost?

I called the dealership to see what the cost of the LFA Lexus Carbon Fiber hood would be, it was:$16,005.00! I'm sure it's a very high quality dry carbon hood and since they will only produce 500 LFA's they probably have to have a high price tag. Compared to the AMG SL65 Black Edition $55,000 carbon fiber hood it's a bargain

This "bargain" reminds me of a friend's recent facebook status: "dear Groupon, All this saving is making me poor!!"

So the dealer have pricing for all the OEM LFA parts now?

I guess so huh, cars are already in private owners hand, all pricing should be in place. I mean Paris Hilton probably crash hers next week and will need new parts!

I wonder how much the rims are, ISF's rims are $2k each, R35's OEM 20s are $2.5k each, so LFA 20s might be $3k-$4k each?

Now that this is public information, I'd hope for extra security on these cars. Still shocked that the MB hood cost more than a car.

I think their price might have been that high because of the costs to produce it. It's possible that Lexus making their own carbon fiber loom and other techniques for the LFA (and F1 tech) makes their cheaper or less expensive rather, to produce?

Not all parts. Mostly just body parts for now. We have to submit all kinds of info and a special form to order LFA parts. Rims are around $4k-$5k each.

Is there a way to get the Nurburgring edition wheels on a regular LFA? If so how much would they run?

Can't look that up yet. But the regular wheels run $3800-$4800 for the fronts and $3900-$4900 for the rears.

How much do they weigh? The regular wheels, if you know. They're cast aluminum? Aluminum alloy?

That was the price for each. The Lexus website just says forged aluminum BBS wheel totaling 120lbs. I don't really have any insider specs on them that I've seen.

That's really not bad considering that I read a carbon fiber hood on one of those special edition Mustangs "Super Snake?" costs 10 g's.

120lbs. for the 4 wheels with tires I presume? So about 30lbs at each corner. Wonder what magnesium would save like on the Nurb' edition.

rear wheels are probably 1-2lb heavier, and together with boxes, etc... i actually expected the wheels to be a bit lighter (if it's true)
