Default Clarkson and Stig: "F12 the only car in the world that holds a candle to Lexus LFA"

F12 review in part 7

Clarkson says "I would much rather have a Lexus LFA". Looks like Clarkson's obsession with the Lexus LFA is not over yet.

I always love a good vindication.

He makes a good point about the Ferrari, not every car needs a tremendous amount of power, its all about balance. It seems like somebody is spoiled by the 550 hp LFA.

I think he did not like the fact that it was big and heavy and when you went fast in it, the steering would go crazy and the car started darting side to side. I do think he has a point there.

Looks like Stig and Clarkson now use LFA as a benchmark to measure how good a car is.

Not to mention, the F12 is much uglier than the LFA, but still great praise!

Thanks for the heads up. Extremely high praises for the LFA for sure.

The review is in part 6 actually, and Clarkson did not actually say what you quoted, but simply implied so by first quoting the Stig, who said that the Ferrari F12 "is the only car in the world that can hold a candle to the Lexus LFA", and then pointing out the flaws of the F12 he found (which can be interpreted as him thinking the F12 isn't as good as the LFA). Just want to remind you not to use quotation marks too liberally.

Actually, Clarkson does say it, or at least something very similar. Listen during the episode when it fades out of the F12 segment and goes back into the studio - somewhat masked by the background noise of all the audience clapping, you can hear Clarkson tell Hammond what sounds to me like, "I'd still have an LFA". A bit hard to hear, but his meaning seems clear.
