Default GT5 LFA Nurburgring Lap time of 7:21. How plausible?

Based on all users who have been playing GT5 and driving LFA around Nurburgring, the lap times have been averaging in the low-7:20s.

Like this one for example that lapped in 7:21 and reached a terminal speed of 301 KM/H.

GT5 has been claiming that the lap times are very realistic and all variables including the physics have been replicated identically in the video game as in real life situations. I also read a side by side comparison of the real world lap in a car versus GT5 lap and they were extremely close to each other.

Is that true that the laptimes in the video game reflect their true real world performance?

if you are a professional driver who lapped the ring for many years then 7 minutes is possible. if you are an avg joe like me or you, its probably near impossible. we can achieve 7 min mark in the game but in real life there are too many blind turns, its more likey that we get into an accident than get 7 minutes..lol

There are a couple gamers who did unscientific examinations of lap times comparing racing games and real world lap times, and the video games are always much faster. I read one test where the tester suggested that even an average gamer playing GT or Forza would be able to beat magazine times (such as those on fastestlaps.com) with very little track or car acclimation.

While no one should expect actual simulation accuracy, I think the biggest factor is that in a video game, drivers can take risks that no driver would take on a real track.

This link from the lexus enthusiast shows that the lap time for the IS-F on the Nurburgring is the exact same in real life as it is in the game.

Kazunori, the creator of GT, has raced an ISF around the ring and said that the game he can replicate times around 5 seconds faster if he pushes it. But in real life he couldn't bring himself to push it that hard. Real life = real consequences. Game = no real life consequences. But still, pretty good to see that in his game the times are within seconds of eachother.

Ive lapped the Nurburgring thousands of time on the game, & I know that track like the back of my hand. Now Im not saying that I could put down a 7min lap in real life, cause it would really depend on what car had to do it in. Brake fade & tire temp & tires are the major factors that will make the game more consistant than real life. I track my SC & if I could get my car on that track, never driven it in real life, I bet I could post a 10min lap on my very first lap. There might be a possible chance that I may get on that track in the next year or two. My buddy is in the airforce & lives about 30min from there. He says you can go & pay money & they will let you take a lap. Just for *****s & grins tonight Im gonna take a stock SC300 off the game & mod it to as close to my car as possible & see what kind of lap time I can get. To see if my 10min real life clame is possible.

Ok so I did what I said I was gonna do. I got my used stock sc300 painted it pearl white, changed the oil. Which made it go from 256hp to 270hp. Then I bought the full coilover set. Adjusted the ride height to 20 front & rear. Set the swaybars @ 4 from 2. Bought the chassis reinforcment. Left the tires @ comfort soft to simulate good street tires. No driving line for braking zones & traction control set @ 5, & put down this lap time 8:57.933. That being said I totally think I could put down a 10min lap or less in my car if it were possible 1st lap never driven it in real life.

A bimmerpost member tested this theory. Check out this GT5 vs. real life. He is one heck of a driver in the real world & on GT5. It would be fantastic to see an LFA owner duplicate this feat.

Just curious if you have ever tracked before? Going around a curve at 110 in the game feels nothing like going around the same curve at 60 in real life. I went to track at Lime rock and I had a few practice laps on video games before, but when you were in the car trying to replicate the speed, feels nothing close to what you are willing to push it to.

It's real life consequences you don't have to factor in to the game!

Glad to see you have experience, but you gotta admit the ring is a lot more difficult than those TX speedways lol

Yes I admit that the ring is more difficult to a certain degree than these tracks. Thats why I allowed for an extra min than the lap I posted on the game. Knowing a track really well makes a track easier on the driver, but its the track it self that determines how hard it is for the "car" you are driving. That eagles canyon track is a KILLER on brakes for these 3600lb lead sleds "SC's", even with BBK's.
