Yeah, this is the new lap time. It beat the old record.

Now it is 1:22.63 is now the new record set by LFA. I love it how he "strolls" the first lap and then on the second lap, he just friggin romps it and suddenly all hell breaks loose. LOL.

It went even faster in the hands of another test driver. In the 1:21's, but that video was questioned because of the lack of a proper 'whole lap'. I still think it'd stand though, and it was almost a second faster than this 1:22.63. It's already 5 seconds faster than a 2007 GTR. Which is the next fastest car. Man, imagine if the LFA had those tires the other cars that compete in the same performance category do! Try it with some Michellin Pilot Super Sports! It'd be something special to see what it'd do with really sticky rubber like everyone else does.

Yeah, I wish Lexus LFA came with dry-only super-slick tires such as, Michelin Pilot Super Sport just like Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Nissan GTR, 599 GTO, LP570-4 etc. The performance numbers both straight line and around the track would be mind blowing.

With production LFA's getting into the hands of private owners, I think it would be just the matter of time before you see LFA with race tires setting record lap times at well known tracks. I think it would be nice if Lexus would do it as well just to cement the car/brand's performance reputation (this is not to market the car since it would be close to soldout by then). Does anyone know what Toyota did with the 2000GT way back when?

IDK about mind blowing, but the car is going to perform like a true champ.

I would really like to see Lexus put the car out there and let it compete with the rest of the competition. Im really sure my ideal of the car will change once a Lexus factory driver is able to put down some great laps and a competitive time.

What do you call 5 seconds faster than a GTR around a 3.8km track? That's like Ferrari F1 or McLaren and Red Bull vs. HRT and Virgin racing!

I agree. I wish Lexus had offered an optional super-slick package for the owner, but I think Lexus wanted to keep it for the Nurburging edition since it comes standard with super slick tires.

2000 GT nows in mint condition sell for over $450,000. Here is some racing details of the 2000 GT:

"Toyota entered the 2000GT in competition at home, coming third in the 1966 Japanese Grand Prix and winning the Fuji 24-Hour Race in 1967. In addition, the car set several FIA world records for speed and endurance in a 72-hour test. Unfortunately, the record car was destroyed in a pace car accident and eventually scrapped. These records shortly prompted Porsche to prepare a 911R especially to beat this record.

Carroll Shelby would also enter a pair of 2000GTs to compete in the SCCA production car races competing in the CP category. Initially Shelby built three cars, including one spare. Although performing well, 1968 was the only season the car competed in the US. Toyota took back one of the cars and rebuilt it into a replica of their record car, which still resides in Japan. The two remaining Shelby cars still reside in the United States."

Cool, thanks for the info.
I think in order to enhance the image of the F lines of cars and the entire brand, Lexus will do more with the LFA this time.
