Sucks LFA is still in SP8 class. I was hoping it will step up to the more highly modified classes and go for the top 5 slot

Anything could happen. Being SP8 wont mean it can't win outright if the car is the 'gte' model. It doesn't seem different than the VLN LFA's from gazoo's photo. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Any updates??
Edit: Just looked it up myself. LFA #79 starting at position no. 30.

Do you know by any chance, if they raised the rev limiter to 9500 rpm from 7500 rpm in the previous years (ofcourse, that would mean moving the air restrictors)???
My guess is, it would still be at 7500 rpm since it is in the SP8 class.

Quite a disappointing outcome, Overall 37th finish (down from 30th overall last year) and 2nd in the SP8 class (always had won the SP8 class in previous years).
One of the reasons might be Akio Toyoda himself racing as well (let's face it, he is no professional racer).

Even though the Gazoo Racing team did not win first place in their respective classes, they had an ultimate goal of finishing the race. With every lap driven around the Nordschleife, they've gain tons of valuable data. This data will be used to improve and develop future Lexus and Toyota products.
