carsondriv PMed me and indicated that he just bought the car, VIN ending in 474 and badge #468. He says that the luggage shows #477, though. He's confused, and I am asking him to send me some photos.

The new owner, Duncan (carsondriv), sent me some photos of this car after just purchasing it.

VIN ends in 474, interior badge shows 468 but luggage shows 477. WTF?

Hmm - that's a different badge than on my Tumi bags, which actually have the VIN.

They have the entire VIN, or just the last three? Maybe his bags are from a different car?

Entire VIN. Actually it's interesting to look at the pics I took of my set here:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lfa...a-luggage.html

I didn't post a closeup of the VIN, but you can see on my set, there is a black area on the badging where the VIN is engraved. On the pics you posted, it looks like they put in the white strip with the car number covering it up.

The picture that LexusNN posted in my "accessories" thread also looks like yours, not this version with the white strip.

It appears towards the end Lexus Global was trying to appease certain badge numbers to certain customer builds to finalize their deals..

My opinion in this process, was that the sequences became out of whack for some LFA's.

The out of whack suitcases make no sense.. Since they are supposed match the VIN.
Not the interior badges..

The badges at this point only dictate how many were ever built..

..In the 1 to 500 Lexus LFA Global Market

Default Update..

So hear is what I know directly from Lexus.. yes, apparently in the early production days of the car they tried to keep the build number close to the vin number, but towards the end it became more and more difficult to do so on a global basis.. I confirmed from shipping documents that my vin and build match..
Regards the luggage, towards the end they began replacing the vin number on the cases with build numbers.. they are sending me the correct luggage to match the build number.. a very nice touch!

That's awesome... so you are VIN 474 and badge 468 still, correct?

Why people care about VIN number? it about value?

The bag badging/engraving should match the car (whether it is VIN number or badge number) - that's the issue that is being discussed here.
