I heard a 458 Italia is now in the same class as the LFA, which is the SP8 class??

Yes, the 458 actually won the overall and had the fastest lap. I believe it is the same Farnbacher/Hankook team that ran the 430s in endurance races past (which we've seen in many LFA videos, such as the one from [edit: sorry, it's Lammertink's video of their GT3 Cup, not Manthey] and the LFA). The LFA finished a lap down but still 2nd in SP8. It had some very slow laps at points - not sure if there were difficulties that required pits. Fastest lap was 10 seconds behind the 458 entry.

Lexus also ran a CT in SP4, btw.

Did the 458 win the whole race or just the SP8 class??

It sucks LFA was not putting down consistent laps. I hope it does better next time. When is the next race LFA will be participating in?

Yes, the 458 was first overall, barely edging out Manthey's GT3 (SP7) by less than a second - imagine that, less than one second over a 6-hour race! The typical cars were here - the E1XP M3s, slew of SP7/CUP2 911 GT3s, the new SLS GT3's, and the GT3Rs (which are actually classified in SP9 now instead of E1XP).

By the way, this is the first 6hr VLN I think - I rather like it, it's more exciting than the usual 4-hour VLNs.


Ya, I don't know if the LFA had to pit just before the 6 hour mark, but had it run even a remotely normal lap it would have finished on the lead lap.

It's hard to know how often the LFA will be entered. I was actually surprsied they ran in VLN at all this year (I figured they would stop once the LFA entered production), and Gazoo didn't enter in VLN 2. I didn't even hear that it was going to race in VLN 3 until I saw a tweet from Lexus Europe this morning.

Absolutely amazing. Manthey is maybe the most seasoned Ring team around so that is quite the accomplishment.

So LFA placed #9 overall inspite of the fact that it crashed?? It also says LFA's lap time was not much different than 458 Italia. 458 was just more consistent.
