Default AutoBild: Nurburgring Full Version Comparo: LFA vs Nissan GTR vs LP570-4 vs Weismann

Footnotes:

- Nurburgring track used in this comparison is the full track. Not just the northern loop used normally in most manufacturer testings (including SportAuto supertests), which is just the 20.6 km shorter version. In order to get the 20.6 km version lap time, usually 6 - 7 seconds are subtracted.

- Lap times were recorded with a passenger (author of the comparo) in the passenger seat.

- LFA was the only car with no super-sticky competition slick tires. It was wearing the normal Bridgestone street tires all prototypes have while all other cars had racing slick tires.

- This direct head to head comparison is the best testament of LFA indeed being one of the top fastest supercars there are on Nurburgring. It just does not get anymore apples to apples than this (minus the disadvantage LFA has of the mediocre tires).

Never heard of Bridgestone EM 98s. What are they?

Here are the scans.

You can see not only LFA is faster than these cars, it also was tested faster Corvette ZR-1 around Nurburgring.

The GTR actually did really badly in driving metrics in the comparo. The high average ranking is only due to its value (preis/leistung) and everyday driving (alltag) metrics. Its average driving metric - straight line (längsdynamik), cornering (querdynamik), and what they call "emotion" which I would liken to fun factor - is by far the lowest of all the cars in the comparo. Even if one of either value or everyday driving were not factored, the GTR would drop in the ranking.

They really loved the Superleggera (who wouldn't), rating it much higher than the LFA in driving characteristics.

That is exactly the opposite of how TopGear ranked the Superleggera.

It was criticized for just about everything. The interior looks too outdated for a car of its price, noise insulation is too stripped out and Stig criticized it for outdated and aging chassis, AWD that does not work very well on the track and that the front wheels being driven by the AWD drive the car out of the circle resulting in understeer.

Come to think of it, LFA is not even wearing super-slick tires and is not nearly as hardcore and stripped as the LP570-4 (quite the opposite), yet LFA was still faster around the track.

The LFA acceleration number suffered due to weak launch control system and because other cars were all wearing super-sticky racing slick tires. They really need to figure out the perfect launch control and tire combo to get it off the line fast.

AFAIK, Top Gear TV show hasn't done the LP570-4 Superleggera, only the first Gallardo Superleggera several years ago. The LP570-4 Superleggera did well in Top Gear magazine, although as with autobild did poorly in the everyday driving category.

So an optioned up LFA with pre-production spec tires beats out cars that weigh in order of 400lbs. less, with less HP? I think we know what would happen if the LFA were in production trim.
