Just FYI, the Carrera GT has depreciated significantly and the Reventon has at best avoided significant depreciation. At least one of the US Reventons with essentially delivery miles was offered for under MSRP. Personally, I doubt the One-77 will appreciate, but we'll see.

FYI what, near 1400 or so were built, far more than the LFA.when it was 2006 with boosting economy and ever bubbling numbers, yeah, everything was appreciating. i guess someone hasn't really caught up with reality. we are in 2010 now
but anyway, don't really see the point of talking about too much appreciation / depreciation. this thread is about MT's review between the two cars, and umm, lfa won.

What i said was there are 500 Production LFA's, and that Motortrend didn't receive a production LFA, so to think that they could have possibly received an aluminum chassis LFA is not out of the question. The reason I am asking if any of you know for sure is because of the claimed weight difference. The cars Motortrend and C&D are testing weigh around 3600lbs. So do you think that Lexus said the LFA weighs 3263-34XXlbs. as a dry weight? Are the lying? I don't think so. Thats why I'm curious as to why these cars weigh significantly more than what Lexus states.
All this debate isn't needed to cause problems. I'm just asking if any of you think it's possible that this is the case. I'm not getting into details about the # of LFA's there are. I'm not an LFA insider so I don't know all the facts. But when motortrend says this car is a trasher, I wouldn't consider it to be one of their models they intend to keep for their 'collection' or whatever. Which to me is another reason for thinking this is an OLDER prototype in terms of chassis, and could be made of Aluminum.

i completely see your point and that's exactly why i made it clear it wasn't what i was trying to point out. i can't deny or confirm what you said is true or not, but i am still thinking and reading all the information.
i was just trying to bring up the point that i would not be surprised at all if lexus built final version of the lfa with cf chassis and use it/them as trash / test cars and not selling to public. expense in that sense is not in a significant scale at all in terms of overall r&d (which goes into tens of millions if you count man hours as well).
heck, they even have to make a few lfa dummies with all the final spec (cf chassis if it is) and send them over for crash test

I went to the LFA official website and found this
Curb weight 3263-3483 lbs
So, I guess a bare bone LFA would be at the low end, and a fully equipped one is closer to 3500 lbs
At my LFA session with Lexus, it was mentioned at 3500 lbs.
